Ribal Al-Assad discusses Syria and the Middle East with The Century Foundation

Iman Chairman, Ribal Al-Assad, took part in a discussion with members of The Century Foundation about the ongoing crises in Syria and the Middle East in New York City today.

During his address, Ribal pointed out that Western countries had failed to act on the fact that their historical allies in the region were acting contrary to Western interests. This, he said, has led to poor policy decisions on the West's behalf that have aggravated the situation in Syria and have thereby provided opportunities for countries such as Iran to enhance their influence in the region.

Ribal concluded that the international community of states should put aside their differences and work together to tackle Islamic extremism, which poses a threat to all global powers and indeed to all humanity.
