Ribal Al-Assad, Chairman of the Iman Foundation, this week spoke about promoting pluralism, democracy and freedom in the Arab world in a speech at the London Jewish Cultural Centre (LJCC). The speech was warmly received and followed by a comprehensive Q & A session.
The event was attended by many members of the LJCC and hosted by its executive. The LJCC is London's leading provider of Jewish education and culture.
Commenting on the event, Ribal Al-Assad said:
"I was delighted and honoured to address the London Jewish Cultural Centre. It was a pleasure to be in the company of such a lovely group of people. The need to promote dialogue to strengthen international understanding and co-existence in the Middle East and North Africa and indeed the world has never been greater.
"It is imperative that people in all countries in the MENA region have a real chance of enjoying political and religious pluralism and that there is an end to hatred and extremism. The only remedy to extremism is pluralism. The international community must ensure that it plays its part in bringing pluralism across the MENA region"
