Iman has facilitated the involvement of two distinguished guests from the Arab world at an event, hosted yesterday evening, by Lord Andrew Stone in the Attlee room, House of Lords, London. They are businessmen and philanthropists, Mr Khalid K. El Hamedi, President of the International Organisation for Peace, Care and Relief, Libya and Sheikh Ahmed Al Eidaroos Bani Hashem from the United Arab Emirates.

The aim of the dinner was to raise awareness of the Moon Valley project, which is a British-Palestinian initiative to give Palestinian growers in the Jordan Valley access to the UK's leading supermarkets of Sainsbury’s, M&S, Co-op and Waitrose. It is supported by the Palestinian British Business Council, the Portland Trust and others.

The event was also attended by distinguished politicians, businessmen, and philanthropists including Chairman of Iman, Ribal Al-Assad, Baroness Symons, former minister for the Middle East, Mr Mazen Sinokrot, former Palestinian Minister of Economy and Mr Tom Blake-James, Private Secretary to Middle East envoy Tony Blair.

Commenting on the event, the Chairman of Iman, Ribal Al-Assad said:

"Iman was delighted and honoured to facilitate the involvement of the distinguished Mr Khalid El Hamedi and Sheikh Ahmed at this event. I was privileged to attend. I welcome the work being done by Lord Stone, Baroness Symons and others for initiatives such as the Moon Valley project, which are vital to help economic development in the Middle East. I had an excellent discussion with Baroness Symons about the need to promote greater dialogue between the Arab world and Britain to strengthen international understanding and relations."
