On the occasion of Diwali I would like to send my blessings and goodwill to Hindus across the world.

The festival of Diwali signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.

I pray that these triumphant principles, which all people of conscience value, will continue to illuminate our common humanity.
