Ribal Al-Assad, the Chairman of the Iman Foundation, was a special guest at a reception and dinner hosted by the Protestant Church in Germany (EKD) at its headquarters in Berlin for a Middle East delegation visiting Germany for Christian Muslim dialogue. The event was hosted by Dr. H. C. Volker Faigle, who is the Plenipotentiary (authorised representative) of the Council of the Protestant Church in Germany (EKD) to the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union

The delegation was made up Christians and Muslims, men and women from Egypt, Lebanon, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. They included journalists, psychologists, professors and clergymen. The delegation visited various religious places in Germany including the sites of the Reformation.

Also present at the event were Pralat Dr. Bernhard Felmberg, Dr. Heinrich Kreft, Director for Public Diplomacy and Dialogue among Civilizations in the German Foreign Office, and Mr Werner Wnendt, Director General for Culture and Communication at the German Foreign Office.

Commenting on the event, Ribal Al-Assad, the Chairman of the Iman Foundation, said:

"I was delighted and honoured to attend the event which was the culmination of an excellent Christian Muslim dialogue hosted by the EKD. It was a real pleasure to meet with the delegation and listen to their views.

"I would like to commend Dr. Volker Faigle for such a great initiative and the German Foreign Office for supporting it. Greater dialogue between Christians and Muslims is vital to help challenge extremism and bring understanding, mutual acceptance and peaceful co-existence in the world today."
