IMAN Chairman meets with renowned artist Chang Jiahuang
Monday, 8 June 2015IMAN Chairman, Ribal Al-Assad met with renowned Chinese artist Chang Jiahuang, son of the famous Chinese great artists Chang Shuhong and Li Chengxian.
Ribal was presented with a painting by the late Li Chengxian, the artists mother, and a book about his fathers work in commemoration of the work IMAN is doing to promote inter-cultural dialogue.
Born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, Chang and his wife went to France in 1927. In 1937 he returned to teach at the National Art School. In 1943, he moved his family to remote Dunhuang to pursue his long-cherished art of Mogao Caves. From then on, he started his 40 years’ hard life and artistic creation of Dunhuang, and became renowned as the “Guardian of Dunhuang Caves”.
